Ingredients

For the casserole
  • 1 can (10.5 oz) condensed cream of mushroom soup
  • 0.75 cup milk
  • 1 tsp soy sauce
  • 0.125 tsp black pepper ground
  • 2 cans (14.5 oz) cut green beans drained
  • 0.67 cup crispy fried onions
For the topping
  • 0.67 cup crispy fried onions

Equipment

  • 1 1 1/2-quart baking dish

Method

Make the casserole
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F.
  2. Grease a 1 1/2-quart baking dish.
  3. Stir the condensed cream of mushroom soup, milk, soy sauce, and ground black pepper together in the baking dish.
  4. Fold in the drained cut green beans and 2/3 cup crispy fried onions.
  5. Spread the mixture into an even layer.
  6. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes, until hot and bubbling around the edges.
Add the topping
  1. Sprinkle the remaining 2/3 cup crispy fried onions over the casserole.
  2. Bake for 5 minutes, until the onions are golden.
  3. Let the casserole rest for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

For an even topping, spread the onions in a single layer. Refrigerate leftovers for up to 3 days; freezing is not recommended because the creamy sauce may separate. For a gluten-free swap, use gluten-free tamari in place of soy sauce.
