Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 1 cup brown sugar packed, light
  • 0.5 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 eggs large, at room temperature
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2.25 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 0.75 tsp kosher salt
  • 1.5 cup M&M's red and green
  • 1 cup white chocolate chips

Equipment

  • 1 9x13-inch metal baking pan
  • 1 hand mixer

Method

  1. Heat the oven to 350°F.
  2. Line a 9x13-inch metal baking pan with parchment paper, leaving overhang on two sides.
  3. In a large bowl, beat the butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar with a hand mixer on medium speed until creamy, about 2 minutes.
  4. Beat in the eggs one at a time.
  5. Mix in the vanilla extract.
  6. Add the flour, baking soda, and salt, and mix on low just until no dry streaks remain.
  7. Fold in the M&M's and white chocolate chips.
  8. Press the dough evenly into the prepared pan.
  9. Bake for 24 to 28 minutes, until the edges are golden and set and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with moist crumbs, not wet batter.
  10. Cool in the pan for at least 45 minutes.
  11. Lift the bars out using the parchment.
  12. Cut into bars.

Notes

For soft, gooey bars, take them out when a toothpick has moist crumbs rather than wet batter. Store airtight at room temperature for up to 4 days; freezer-friendly. For a dairy-free swap, use dairy-free butter, white chocolate chips, and candy pieces.
