Turkey Cookie Treats

Turkey cookie treats turn chocolate sandwich cookies into festive little turkeys with candy corn feathers and a sweet candy face. Melted chocolate holds the decorations in place, then chilling makes each cookie easy to serve.

Ingredients

  • 12 chocolate sandwich cookies
  • 0.5 cup semisweet chocolate chips
  • 60 candy corn pieces
  • 24 candy eyes
  • 12 orange mini candy-coated chocolates

Equipment

  • 1 baking sheet
  • 1 microwave

Method

  1. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and arrange the cookies in a single layer.
  2. Place the chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl and microwave in 20-second increments, stirring each time, until smooth.
  3. Use small dabs of melted chocolate to attach 5 candy corn pieces in a fan shape along the top edge of each cookie, then attach 2 candy eyes and 1 orange candy-coated chocolate to the front of each cookie for the face and beak.
  4. Refrigerate the cookies for 10 to 15 minutes, until the chocolate is firm.

Notes

For neat decorations, let the melted chocolate cool slightly so it is thick enough to hold the candies. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days; freezing is not recommended because the candies may lose their texture. For a gluten-free option, use gluten-free chocolate sandwich cookies.
